PARADE AND RALLY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE SETS

ANGELES CITY – In line with the observance of Anti-Drug Week, the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC) headed by Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno is scheduled to conduct a Parade and Rally against Drug Abuse or PARADA on November 20, 2009

Nepomuceno said “this is in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 124 declaring the third week of November of every year, as the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week.”

 

With the theme “Kilos Pamayanan, Droga’y Patuloy Labanan”, Nepomuceno added that his administration is very much concerned about the damage and harmful effects of drugs. This is the reason why he appropriated funds towards a citywide anti-drug program of the city government in order to prevent illicit drug use, treat illegal drug dependency and combat unlawful drug production and distribution.

According to Rafael “Pengot” Del Rosario, ACADAC Program Head, the council ensures the active participation of all government agencies, schools, people’s organization and non-government organizations, likewise advocating the passage of anti-dangerous drug abuse and rehabilitation ordinances.

“The rally will start at the assembly points of Chevalier School, Holy Family Academy and Dieg’s Bake Shop and parade to Nepo Quadrangle were a program will be held and anticipating 20,000 in attendees”, added Del Rosario 

The ACADAC was re-organized under Executive Order No. 05, Series of 2008, pursuant to RA No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

 

The council aims to safeguard the integrity of its territory and the well-being of its constituency particularly the youth from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs on their physical and mental well-being.

 

ACADAC pursues an intensive and unrelenting campaign against the trafficking and use of dangerous drugs and other similar substance through an integrated system of planning, implementation and law enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies like consultations meetings with various NGOs,Pos and other sectoral organizations; organize barangay anti-drug abuse councils in all Thirty Three (33) barangays; ensure active participation of all government agencies and departments.
